North Carolina Governor Represents DSDI at The Crossing of The Dan
North Carolina Governor Sheryll Albert represented DSDI at the 244th Anniversary Commemoration of The Crossing of The Dan, held on February 15, 2025, and had the honor of presenting the DSDI Wreath. Unfortunately, due to the Dan River being in flood stage, all outdoor events were canceled. However, the event’s indoor programs more than compensated for the setback with their engaging and informative presentations.
Dr. Lawrence Babits delivered an outstanding Microsoft PowerPoint presentation titled “The Nathanael Greene’s Trail Meets the Race to the Dan – Southern Army Logistics January – March 1781.” His talk provided a compelling analysis of the logistics and military strategies that defined this critical period in Revolutionary War history.
On the preceding evening, Friday, February 14, 2025, at 5:30 p.m., LeRae Umfleet of the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources/America 250 gave an illuminating presentation titled “Searching For Spaces 1781.” Her discussion delved into the efforts to uncover and preserve historical sites connected to the Revolutionary War, offering valuable insights into the enduring significance of these spaces.
